Hi
I work at Hackney Museum. We’re working on an exhibition about independant shops in the borough and hope to include a projected slide show of pictures of shops that have caught people’s eye. Could we include this one please?
Definitely. And this one too.
The exhibition will be at Hackney Museum from 20th March to 7th June 2008.

Where is that Bosnian shop, Ben? (It has, or at any rate, had, a twin on Cricklewood Broadway).
Slight aside: I was just lamenting the lack of Balkans restaurants in London a couple of hours ago. You must be able to get cepacvici (apologies for the lack of diacritics) somewhere in Hackney, surely…
Yes, Ven: it’s at the bottom (western) end of Cazenove Road, where it meets with the bottom of Stamford Hill.
Afraid I don’t know about the cepacvici, but I’m sure there’ll be a little place somewhere in the borough…
The Bosnia Shop - or, as my best friend and I used to call it, ‘Bosnia’ - as in, “I’m just going to Bosnia” - would look so much better without that car! And they should show the guys who work in there. I remember when it opened, just after the war, and all the guys in there were refugees from it… one young guy with a prosthetic arm, used to be in there a lot.
As a vegetarian I’d like to point out that Bosnian food is amongst the most annoying in the world:
Restaurant in Sarajevo:
“I’d like an omelette please, no ham”
“onions tho, you want onions”
“Onions are absolutely fine, but no meat”
… 5 minutes later …
Bosnian omelettes are served on a bed of bacon, apparently..
You’re right, Ms B - that car was a pain. I suppose I could have waited for someone to nick it, but it didn’t occur to me at the time…
I like bacon a lot, Edwin - I’d be right at home.
