Murder scene, Upper Street, Islington

I’ve only just found time to find out why the police had cordoned off sections of Upper Street, which I photographed on my phone as I walked past on Friday.

Another London teenager - either the 26th or the 27th this year - murdered.

The Times has fixed on a supposed gang connection, hinting that a Hackney teenager may have been responsible and citing Nassirudeen’s tribute site, which contains comments (on this picture) about him being a “true soldier”.

I’ve no idea whether or not Nassirudeen was involved in or with gangs, but I do know that I’m right behind the person who posted this on his memorial website:

its 2 much now…ppl need 2 stop 28th Dec 2007

call me a cynical old hag, but this, “he was a wonderful lad, top of his class, principled” is wearing a bit thin. It is believable the first, second or third times it is trotted out by the press, but after a while, I regret that I am obliged to conclude that it is “scrote on scrote” crime.

I blame the parents.

Could call you more than a cynical old hag! How dare you issinuate that this young man was anything but what the press have suggested. He is dead and can not defend himself against your accusations! This could happen to any young persion walking the streets today. If this happened to your child, would it be okay to assume he was a trouble maker?
